The sun leaned down and kissed me soft upon my face
And I leaned in and kissed her lips in that same golden space
Her lips were sweet, sweeter than the sweetest candy
And they were so light and delicate, so tender as cotton might ever be
She stood there trembling, scared of getting something wrong
For someone who had never kissed, her fear had been so strong
But I leaned in and pressed my lips to hers so soft and quick
Just a simple little peck, no flourish, no great trick
She pulled back blushing, turning to me with a grin
"That's it?" she said, like she had wanted to begin
So I leaned in a second time and pressed a little harder
And when I pulled away her heart beat just a little faster
She turned her flushed face from me, fanning at the heat
"Jeez, I felt a fever" and the moment was complete
For I had finally tasted what I had so long schemed
And she had conquered the fear she had so long dreamed
She turned her flushed face from me, glowing like the sun
A shy little glacier, her cold shell coming undone
For even the most frozen heart must yield when warmth draws near
And what once felt impossible slowly began to clear
